Green Dragon Strain Information

Our Green Dragon strain originates from the same great grandfathers as the first ever Green Dragon from select aquatics. These are considered "Pure" as the green color is very vibrant and when they got older turn into a forest green.

We only carry shortfin Green dragons (Until further notice) As we are trying to get the best color before developing a good finnage as Greg Sage is stopping production from his fish room as I take on the challenge or breeding these.

Other Information
  • The green dragons is still a new strain so when you purchase these fish make sure if you breed to lable poor quality fish (see below) As regular longfin plecos. Do not sell them as green dragons as that will be misleading to the customer

  • To Cull for the good green color can be seen below from this

  • These shortfin fish can produced longfins if bred together enough

  • DO NOT mix these green dragons with any other species of plecos to risk damaging the line

  • Green dragons will still throw some albino plecos. (Pinapple, Albino green dragons, Golden Dragon) Plecos. These fish are genetically weaker than the regular colored green dragon

Green Dragon Color

Green Dragon "Pure"

Commonly in the hobby as the "green dragon"

When determining green dragon color the best way is to shine a flashlight and if it reflects back a emerald green color it means it is probably a "Pure" green dragon.

The fish (Left) is a pure green dragon as it shows the forest green but also shows a lot of gold in the pleco. The fish (right) Is a poorly colored charcoal colored fish and commonly sold in the pet trade as a "Green dragon' As you can see it is far from that as it has a grey with no white tips on the fins.

Another way to tell is the white/goldish on the tip of the fin. This is a crossed fish between a albino, a longfin brown, a lemon drop to get to the green dragon. When purchasing this fish be careful when distributing them and not selling any poorly colored fish as green dragons.
